Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Free photo editor ("we", "us", or "the Service"), available at imgeditor.site, and the optional Free Photo Editor Chrome extension handle information when you use our products.
1. Summary
- Photo editing runs entirely in your browser with the HTML5 Canvas API. Image files are not uploaded to our servers for editing.
- We may receive limited anonymous usage metadata when you download an edited image.
- Optional third-party tools (advertising and analytics) may collect standard web telemetry when configured.
- The Chrome extension transfers images only between your browser and the editor tab. It does not upload images to our servers.
2. Images and local processing
When you open an image from your device, drop a file into the workspace, or import an image through the Chrome extension, the file stays in browser memory. Filters, crop, blur, watermarks, and exports are computed locally on your device.
We do not receive, store, or process the contents of your photos on our servers. Downloaded results are saved by your browser to your local device.
3. Anonymous download analytics
When you export an image, the Service may send a small anonymous analytics request to /api/stats/download. This request may include:
- a summary of applied filters;
- output image width and height;
- an optional preset identifier, if a preset was used.
This request does not include image bytes, filenames, EXIF data, account details, or personal profile information. We use it only to understand aggregate product usage and keep the Service reliable. Rate limiting may temporarily use your IP address in server memory or Redis to prevent abuse; IP addresses are not stored as part of the download analytics records themselves.
4. Chrome extension
The Free Photo Editor Chrome extension helps you open a web image or a visible-tab screenshot in the editor. Its single purpose is to transfer the image you explicitly selected into imgeditor.site for local editing.
Temporary transfer data may be held in Chrome extension storage for a short period (up to about five minutes) while the editor tab opens. That data is removed after successful import, failure, or expiration. The extension does not sell, share, or permanently store your images.
Permissions such as context menus, tabs, scripting, storage, and host access are used only to support this user-initiated transfer. The extension does not monitor your general browsing history.
5. Advertising, analytics, and error monitoring
Depending on configuration, the website may load third-party services:
- Google AdSense — to show advertisements;
- Google Analytics — to measure aggregate site usage;
- Microsoft Clarity — to understand session behavior and usability;
- Sentry — to capture technical errors and improve reliability.
These providers may set cookies or collect device, browser, and usage information according to their own policies. You can limit tracking with browser settings, extensions, or industry opt-out tools where available.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The core editor does not require an account cookie. Third-party advertising and analytics scripts, when enabled, may use cookies or local storage for measurement, fraud prevention, and ad personalization. Essential technical storage may also be used by the browser or extension for temporary image transfer.
7. Data retention
Image contents are not retained on our servers. Anonymous download analytics may be kept for product improvement and operational analysis. Extension transfer data is deleted after import, failure, or short-term expiration. Error and analytics vendor retention is governed by each vendor's settings and policies.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International visitors
The Service is provided online and may be accessed from different countries. If third-party processors are used, information they receive may be processed in the United States or other locations where those providers operate.
10. Your choices
- You can use the editor without creating an account.
- You can refuse or remove the Chrome extension at any time.
- You can block cookies, ads, or trackers in your browser.
- You can stop using the Service at any time. Local browser data can be cleared through your browser settings.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
12. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or the Service, contact us through the website at imgeditor.site.
